LinkedIn Top Startups 2023: The seven European companies on the rise
The past year has been challenging for companies across many sectors, marked by continued inflation, layoffs and tightened capital. And with a drop in funding of 61% in the first half of this year alone in Europe, startups have not been immune.
However, times of uncertainty can push companies to adapt and innovate – and lead to new opportunities for emerging industries. More than half of LinkedIn's top startups globally in sustainability and edtech, and around a third in retail and finance are in Europe.?
Our annual LinkedIn Top Startups Europe list is a testament to that spirit of innovation, featuring seven young European companies that are growing fast and gaining attention. These are the startups that have trail-blazed their way through recent economic and workplace challenges – and managed to stand out to investors and top talent along the way.
To compile the list, we looked at LinkedIn data across four pillars: employee growth; jobseeker interest; member engagement with the company and its employees; and how well these startups pulled talent from our flagship LinkedIn Top Companies Europe list. (You can learn more about our methodology at the bottom of this article.)
This list is ultimately meant to be a resource for you. At each company, you’ll find actionable insights on the roles, skills and functions in demand. See a startup that sparks your interest? Methodology
LinkedIn measures startups based on four pillars: employment growth, engagement, job interest and attraction of top talent. Employment growth is measured as percentage headcount increase over methodology time frame, which must be a minimum of 10%. Engagement looks at non-employee views and follows of the company’s LinkedIn page, as well as how many non-employees are viewing employees at that startup. Job interest counts rate at which people are viewing and applying to jobs at the company, including both paid and unpaid postings. Attraction of top talent measures how many employees the startup has recruited away from any global LinkedIn Top Company, as a percentage of the startup’s total workforce. Data is normalised across all eligible startups. The methodology time frame is 1 July, 2022 through 30 June, 2023. Eligibility requirements for headcount, age and growth differ by country. For further information, please see the original Top Startups List for each country, linked above.?

10 个月As a founder, what do you think are the most important lessons you have learned while setting up your company? Lesson #1: Just do it! Now! Do not overthink it. Lesson #2: Focus on your strengths and learn to manage weaknesses. Lesson #3: There are no failures, just lessons. Learn, readjust and keep pushing forward. What would you tell your younger self about running a business? It will be though, but it is worth it. If you could grow a company slowly but without external funding, would you choose that path? Growing slowly your company allows for full control and ownership, encourages a lean and customer-focused approach, avoids dilution of equity, and promotes organic growth driven by profitability and operational efficiency.
As a founder, what do you think are the most important lessons you have learned while setting up your company? 3 things: First, you must have vision. Having an answer to the outside world. Second, customer oriented. Resolve customer issues. And third, be attractive to talents. ? What would you tell your younger self about running a business? Focusing, adding values and perseverance. ? If you could grow a company slowly but without external funding, would you choose that path? Grow slowly. External investors usually have a short term of 5 years. Sometimes you have to make choices for the long term.
