This is an oldie but still necessary when it comes to your LinkedIn profile and that is: Owning your name on LinkedIn.... or more specifically, how you can get your vanity URL (Ie, https://www.dhirubhai.net/in/yourname).
So what....why would I want to do this?
There are a number of reasons why you would want to change your LinkedIn default URL (which will be a lot of mixed up numbers, letters and symbols) to a name you choose. Some would be:
- Personal branding
- Have ownership over your name on LinkedIn
- Looks cleaner
- Easier to send to people
- Helps in search
Few things:
- Skill level: Beginners
- Time to implement: Less than 3 minutes
As usual, I have broken it down in a slideshare presentation (More tutorials can be found on my slideshare account).
So there you have it. Hopefully you can get the name you are after but if you can't there are other ways you can still be consistent. Andrew Davis is a common name but I added my middle initial, M for Miles, to mine.
If you want a tip or trick on a certain subject, or you have some you would like to share, let me know in the comments or connect with me on LinkedIn and send me a message.
Fab, thanks for this! After using LinkedIn since it started I only just find this out thanks to you! As a recruiter this will be very useful and for anyone who wants to be found easily! Thanks for sharing!
