LinkedIn Strategies for 2015

LinkedIn Strategies for 2015

LinkedIn is designed to help you search for individuals and discover relationships that may be of benefit to you and your business. You can also get information about companies you or your business may want to align with or to actually do business with. However, by developing a well-structured strategy it will make integrating your connections more flexible and...

Lets’ look at the approach you need to find and connect with the right people on LinkedIn

Who do you want to connect with?

  1. What keywords would individuals use to describe themselves?
  2. What LinkedIn groups would your targeted individuals usually join?
  3. What relationship could you leverage that will enable you to connect with an individual?
  4. What goals and objectives can you set that will be relative to the people you want to connect with?

Let’s looks at answering this first question:

Who do you want to meet?

  • Customers that you want to do business with.
  • Your potential customer’s employees,
  • Retailers
  • Suppliers
  • Non-Profit Organisation
  • Company board members
  • Referral sources
  • Alliance Partners.

Perhaps now is a good time to think about those past relationships that have been important to your success. Look for new relationships that will reflect these relationships.

Identify the different keywords that people use to describe them-selves.

  • Begin with identifying keywords of some of your current connections who may be in the same category of customer, employee etc.

What LinkedIn groups your target market is joining?

  • Begin with a keyword search in the Group Directory
  • Look at which groups your current connections have joined.
  • Use those keywords in the Advanced Search function
  • Add other relevant criteria eg- geographic location
  • Perform a search to identify potential clients.
  • Use these keywords in the groups in which you already belong.
  • Determine if you are connected to them as a member of the same group or through a first or second degree connection.

Once you have highlighted your potential targets, you will need to come up with specific and actionable goals .

They make look like this:

  • Get introduced to two new people from a particular category each month.
  • Join a new group that a particular category of individual belongs to.
  • Play a game of golf each month with at least four people from a chosen category preferably those of who you have not met before.
  • Set up a saved search to find individuals who meet the criteria for a particular category.
  • Each month review connections of one of your first-degree connections in a target industry & find new people to connect with.
