There are many unknown experts out there. Don’t be one of them! Here’s how:

If you’re an expert in specific areas, how do people know?

You can publish a book.

You can get in the media.

You can be recognised by your peers.

You can also post about your expertise on LinkedIn every day or at least every week.

This is not narcissistic or grandiose, it's literally telling people what you’re good at and how you can help them!

Self promotion may be, but a necessary strategy if you want to go from being an unknown expert to being a known expert.

If you publish on LinkedIn, your target audience, peers, associations and anyone who may be interested in your field of work and expertise can read it.

Then they can tell other people about you.

This can be through liking or commenting your posts on LinkedIn or through good old fashioned word of mouth.

But that positive word of mouth is generated by you posting on LinkedIn.

So don’t be an unknown expert, be a known expert and reap then rewards and benefits from being so.

What do you think?

If you don’t have the time to do this yourself my team would love to help you enhance your personal brand by enabling you to post your thought leadership on LinkedIn, our service details are here on this LinkedIn SmartLink: https://lnkd.in/dqWRi6EZ

There's more to it, some of which I don't understand about LI. I've been a member over twenty years. My profile is up-to-date and full of content (published articles etc). I post/comment daily in (I think) a respectful tone on matters I know about or on which I have opinions based on 40 years out and about. In all this time, I've barely had business opportunities presented to me via LinkedIn more than the fingers on my hand. Yet in terms of my industry (agriculture, agribusiness, commodities, food) I'm a senior international expert with (I believe) a good reputation for delivering what my clients pay for. That's an observation, not a whinge. I guess I'm saying it likely depends on one's industry. LI probably helps some rather than others. That said, I keep hanging my flag out here.

A lot of unknown wax filled ears too. ?? i.e. people that wouldn't understand an expert even if they are known.
