When it comes to attracting views on your LinkedIn Profile, firstly it’s all about having a profile that is professionally crafted, fully optimized and interesting to the people that come across it and secondly it is about frequently performing several tasks that will generate more traction and attract more eyeballs to your LinkedIn presence. It is about that “magnet effect” that will make you stand out and make others stop and click to your profile to learn more about you. So, don’t just merely craft a LinkedIn profile and hope that you will manage somehow to attract attention, because chances are, you won’t. There is an ocean of other profiles out there that were created with a lot of effort, professionalism, meticulousness and creativity in order to attract a higher number of views. If you’re wondering why your profile isn’t attracting enough attention, you’re probably doing something wrong, or to be more precise, you’re not doing something sufficiently right. This is the reason why this article was crafted. To identify a few ways to attract more views to your LinkedIn profile:
- LinkedIn Profile picture and Headline
What are the first things people see when they look at a LinkedIn profile? The profile picture and your profile's headline, of course! Before even accessing your profile, people look (i.e. on LinkedIn search results when they search for professionals such as yourself) at these two things to see if it is worth their time to check your LinkedIn profile out. There should be something unique about your headline and picture in order for their interest to be piqued.

As far as your headline is concerned this has to be very “catchy” include WIIFM (What's In It For Me) factor for your profile's visitors, as well as your major keyword (s). The problem is that you only have 120 characters to express those powerful statements. Your headline should transmit something to the viewers, something that will make them want to know more about you by accessing your LinkedIn profile.
- Keyword Optimize your LinkedIn Profile
Keywords are the heart of LinkedIn Search. It is therefore crucial that you understand how to utilize them in the most efficient manner. To improve the possibility of getting found by your target prospects you can insert your carefully selected keywords in specific sections of your LinkedIn Profile.
But what do we mean by carefully selected keywords? We mean the keywords that someone would use in their LinkedIn Search in order to find a professional such as yourself. You need to ask yourself the following questions:
? How do your ideal prospects refer to you?
? What do you wish to be found for?
? What keywords does your competition use?

And don't forget, placing many keywords that will make the content incomprehensible will not help you. In this case, people will leave your profile just as fast as they entered it, eventually damaging your ranking. So, yes, use keywords, but work to maintain great readability and flow so people comprehend what you are trying to say. Don’t force a keyword in a sentence or paragraph if it is likely to make it incoherent.
- How active are you on LinkedIn?
How can you expect to have views on your LinkedIn profile if you aren’t an active LinkedIn user? If you want your profile to be more popular, you have to spend some time on LinkedIn. But, it also depends on what sort of actions you take during the time you spend on the site. So ask yourself these questions:
? Are you reading LinkedIn posts of your interest on a regular basis?
? Are you following influencers in your network?
? Are you frequently posting updates & long form posts?
? Do you monitor group discussions and participate in conversations with interesting insights when appropriate?
? Do remember your fellow networkers' birthdays, work anniversaries & congratulate them on their new jobs?
? Do you endorse some of their skills?
? Do you frequently like & share interesting content you identify on the LinkedIn platform?
? Do you frequently monitor notifications and take actions where appropriate?
? Do you frequently check who's viewed your profile?
? Do you regularly send customized invitations to connect to your target prospects?
? Do you answer incoming messages and InMails promptly, accurately and with care?
- Frequently write long form posts on LinkedIn Publisher
It’s obvious that you need to post high-quality content if you want to attract more views to your LinkedIn profile. Writing posts on LinkedIn Publisher is a way to do this, since there is a high probability that a number of people will read your post (especially since your 1st connections receive a notification every time you publish a long form post on the platform). However, simply making a post is not going to cut it. You need to work hard and come up with great, helpful and if possible “unique” content to post, as well as know the best days and times to do so. It may take a while to figure out how to come up with the best content, but it will definitely be worth your efforts. If your Publisher posts are successful, this means you will get more views, likes, comments, shares and hence more potential visitors to your profile. As you may understand, it is definitely worth sacrificing a bit of your time to do this right.
What you did with your LinkedIn profile's keyword optimization should also be done for your long form posts. LinkedIn (and sometimes even Google) will rank these posts, so you want them to be fully optimized if you’re looking to get some traction. By optimizing the content of your long form posts, they will appear more frequently when someone is searching content with those keywords, which will definitely increase the attention initially to your post, and consequently to your LinkedIn profile. Don't forget to maintain readability and flow while optimizing for keywords, so that people comprehend what you are trying to say and there is a natural flow on your articles.
- Make sure the groups you join are highly active
Want to join a few LinkedIn groups (did you know you can join up to 100 of them)? That’s a great way to increase your network's size since fellow group members are considered part of your wider LinkedIn network (that being said, the larger the group you join – the larger your wider LinkedIn network becomes). Just make sure that the group is comprised of quality group members as well as group discussions that are engaging and relevant to your interests. The more relevant discussions with lots of engagement there are in a group, the higher are the chances for someone to notice you and your profile when you participate in one of those discussions. Never forget to provide group insights that are useful, interesting, and relevant to particular discussions.
- Increase the number of your LinkedIn Recommendations
Think about it, who can you ask to give you a LinkedIn recommendation that you haven't done so already? The more recommendations you have, the better. LinkedIn recommendations have three benefits:
a) They increase our Social proof.
b) They improve our ranking on LinkedIn search results.
c) They include a link from the users' LinkedIn Profile (under Given Recommendations Section) to your own profile, thus potentially increasing your LinkedIn Profile views from their own LinkedIn Profile's visitors.
- Promote your LinkedIn Profile outside LinkedIn
Ensure you include the URL of your LinkedIn Profile on your email signature, your other Social Media Networks (Twitter, Facebook, etc.), as well as your online presence in general, which will direct individuals to your LinkedIn Profile, thus increasing your LinkedIn Profile views.
