Linkedin is probably one of the most powerful social media platforms for professionals. Speaking from experience it has elevated my position as a communication, branding and marketing expert, bringing wonderful opportunities such as, TEDx talks, teaching invitations by well-known universities, and countless keynote engagements.
Success on Linkedin requires strategy. The platform has many complex features and algorithms. However, my advice here is simple, just start by connecting with your audience in some small way. Here are 4 ways to increase your presence, organically, on Linkedin.
1. Like and share your connection's posts that resonate with you, and would be a benefit to your online community.
2. Write positive comments on other people's posts.
3. Contribute and provide your insight in like-minded groups.
4. Endorse your connections that deserve your recognition.
Don’t be concerned about being interesting, instead be interested in your audience and post something that they would want to know more about. It's not a good idea to send cold pitches to connections that wreak of sales. We've all heard it before, but worth repeating, no one likes to be sold to you.
You want to first develop your presence as a thought leader. In the social media world t's helpful to be known as a giver.
The human race desires connection, people want to find out about you and your product in a more organic way. Connection creates trust and that's the best sales tool on Linkedin.
Think about Linkedin as if it's the ultimate networking event. Imagine standing in a room surrounded by valuable connections, would you immediately ask them for their business? I hope not, because that would come across as selfish and all about you. However, if you engage and get to know your Linkedin online community chances are the business will follow.
Remember, people do business with people they like. Feel free to message me, if you want to know more about how to supercharge your brand using Linkedin. And check out www.wintheroom.com.
