LinkedIn ... a Power for Good!!??
Much to my surprise my post wishing all a happy 2018 had a reach on LinkedIn in the tens of thousands ... I tell you this only because it occurred to me that as I sleep on the streets this year to raise money for Action for Children and the 83,000 homeless young people in the UK that they support ... that this LinkedIn community can make a massive difference!!
The team sleeping out as part of CEO SleepOut this year hope to push the funds raised to over £1m over the past five years.

7 年I so agree, this is a platform to make a difference even if its just amplifying a message

7 年As a teenager teachers, social workers, police and a magistrate enabled me to live independently & attend school after several months sleeping rough at night under hedge rows, in scrap cars, in milk floats or near heating vents of public buildings , working in the market first thing to get some money for food, bathing at the public baths and getting to school was relatively easy for me but I recognise how lucky I was to come through that experience without alcohol, drugs, criminality or worse. I was fortunate my experience was relatively positive, despite other issues of life and health, recessions economics it has helped me become me, but I needed help - how many do not get help ? 83,000 is a number I cannot comprehend - I knew of others who were going through problems at “home” but they were often victims of much worse than my own perceived “tough times” and much worse damaged by it I would point out that I was and am a survivor, scouting, pioneering, air training corps, sports and studying saved me from falling into other problems “Gang” mentality is the threat to those without security, - in childhood or adult life or even business it is fraught with danger - I was Lucky I survived relatively unscathed many do not.
