Why most entrepreneurs struggle with outreach
So outreach is damn right uncomfortable for anyone.
Nobody wants to “make the first move” in a conversation.
As it simply feels uncomfortable.
You know it reminds me of my past relatiosh…. Nevermind.
Anyway, what I find is that most entrepreneurs lack a system.
Something they can follow that makes them at least 1% more comfortable and less salesy with their outreach.
What to consider when starting conversations
So when we’re starting conversations, I like to think from the receiver’s perspective when I write.
Because if I receive a classic DM that seemed blatantly copy-and-pasted.
Then I would not be impressed, but rather repelled.
So here’s the 3 things I consider:
1. How I found them
If I receive a DM from someone who doesn’t share how they found me, I get sceptical.
As I don’t know if they’re just simply going around to every profile like mine and mass outreaching.
Either way, it’s good to share how you found them in your first message.
So for me, I might share how I found them in my profile viewers or how they engaged with my content.
2. Complimenting something I like that they’re doing

This is key for personalising your messages.
Now you can keep it basic and compliment what you like about their recent post.
Or you can aim to be a bit playful about something they posted about instead.
I prefer trying to be more playful as it brings across my personality and makes the conversation feel more human.
3. Asking a broad question in relation to my niche
This is so important for guiding the conversation the right way.
As it makes it easier for the individual to answer while helping you better understand them.
This can help you ask more specific questions further into the conversation as they respond.
How you can start applying this today
So this is great’an all, but how can you start applying this.
Well if you don’t do much consistent outreach, then start with 5 conversations a day.
As this will push you just outside of your comfort zone without having to overwhelm yourself.
This also helps you get used to outreach more and can help you get feedback on what’s working and not working.
But overall, if you can start applying this to 5 new conversations per day.
You’ll find much more success in what seems to work and not.
Which will help you have more engaging conversations in the future.
