Your profile photo isn't just a formality. It’s an expression of who you are. I use an image with a color splash filter to showcase my creativity.

I use content images that highlight my creative, idea-generating personality. While traditional advice pushes for conventional headshots, what truly matters is authenticity. Your image should resonate with who you are and the work you do.?

As a creative professional, my playful, artistic profile picture signals that I bring fresh thinking and innovative approaches. To be creative, you need to be having fun. And your profile should reflect that energy! The right image authentically represents your professional identity and attracts the connections you want to work with.

By the way, I’ve changed my profile multiple times, and my DMs literally get flooded with requests to bring back my current creation with a vibrant color burst. I could take that wrong, but I'll stick to being optimistic about the demands (LOL).?

It’s your value proposition in 10 words or less. Instead of "Marketing Manager at XYZ Company," try "Helping B2B SaaS companies double conversion rates through data-driven storytelling." This instantly communicates your value and precisely attracts the connections that need what you offer.

I mentioned above that my DMs are flooded when I change my profile picture; the same happens when I change my headline. Tons of Dms expressing disappointment and encouragement to bring back, “I craft content that doesn't suck…”

When you are authentic and represent yourself as such, it resonates!

The feed has become saturated with motivational quotes and humble brags. To stand out, you need to be the person providing actual value.?

When I started sharing specific, actionable insights from my work - complete with strategies, tips, and actionable takeaways - my engagement skyrocketed from a handful of likes to dozens of comments from decision-makers and influencers. And my Impressions jumped from less than 100 to 1000 and sometimes 2000.

  1. Identify a common pain point in your industry
  2. Share a specific solution you've implemented
  3. Provide the results (with numbers when possible)
  4. Add a lesson or insight that others can apply immediately

For example, instead of posting "Great meeting with my clients today! #blessed," try “Helped a client increase email open rates by 47% by changing one word in their subject lines.” The word? ‘My.’ People care about themselves, not you.

I've found that sending 5 thoughtful connection requests with personalized messages yields better results than 50 generic ones. Before reaching out, research the person's recent activity and mention something specific: "I noticed your comment about [insert] challenges in the [insert] - I've been working on solutions in that space and would love to compare notes."

I've found that offering a specific, low-commitment next step with clear value converts digital connections to real relationships: "I'd love to share our findings on [insert] in a quick call - they might help with the challenge you mentioned in your post last week."
