Highlights from the President’s Desk

GAAPP President Tonya Winders shared her exhilarating experiences at the recent EAACI conference, where over 8,000 attendees convened to discuss the latest scientific advancements in allergy and airway health. Tonya's new role as a formal advisor to EAACI leadership underscores our deepening influence and commitment to shaping global health policies.

Empowering Advocacy for Access to Biologicals

One of our key focuses has been on enhancing access to biological medications. Our initiatives are designed to empower patient advocates with the tools and knowledge to engage effectively with policymakers. This is particularly critical in regions like LATAM, China, and Eastern Europe, where we are actively expanding our efforts.

Community and Member Highlights

• Asthma Education and Advocacy: From Nigeria to the Gambia, our member organizations have been instrumental in driving national asthma advocacy initiatives. The 'Asthma: The Family Handbook' project in Nigeria, for instance, has reached over 7,000 individuals, significantly impacting asthma awareness and management.
• Innovations in Respiratory Diagnostics: In collaboration with Asthma + Lung UK and LifeArc, we have facilitated discussions that are set to revolutionize how respiratory diseases are detected and treated. The outcomes of these discussions are captured in a comprehensive report that highlights the urgent need for innovation in this field.

Engaging and Learning Opportunities

We continue to offer a plethora of educational resources and webinars:

• Chronic Urticaria Informational Flyer: Available in five languages , this flyer is a valuable resource for understanding chronic hives.
