LinkedIn News & Tips from Link?Ability June 2022

A number of the newer features began rolling out in May with some arriving sooner than others. Our previous list of updates can be found at https://linkability.biz/3z4PijP

Here’s what’s new or we’ve been seeing in the past month:

?? LinkedIn Lives are beginning to stream in real time in our feeds. That and the fact that replays are available immediately after a Live ends (and with captions!) gives more ammunition to our argument that LinkedIn Live events are the event format to watch. Read more at https://linkability.biz/3sHgem1

?? Product pages are rolling out to company pages. A company can have up to 35 product pages and recommendations can be sought from users. The first indicates that this feature will grow in importance over time and the second that it will become important social proof. Read more at https://linkability.biz/3MYJOLM

?? Assign skills allows you to link your skills to the Experience, Education, volunteering and Accomplishments sections of your LinkedIn profile. This is a significant change and is something we should all be using. Learn more at https://linkability.biz/3yBlBqE

?? New types of messages from LinkedIn are showing up in our feeds. One is Impress your clients (below) which directs you to your Providing Services page to request reviews from clients. We’ve written extensively about this feature (which we love) including this post about an increase to the number of reviews we are allocated: https://linkability.biz/3LV2IBR

The second is a suggestion that you invite your connections to follow your page.

?? Recently, the monthly page maximum of invites to follow pages was relaxed. But only kind of. One of our Super admins and our content admin received the invite increase but not the Super admin who has the largest network. This sounded generous but because you can only invite connections to follow was, in fact, not generous in practice. It was confusing and resulted in all our invites being used up too early in the month. And we’ve found that once credits reach zero, they are not returned even when your invites are accepted. Our recommendation is to only let them drop to zero at the end of the month. If you stay above that, you do seem to receive the credits.

How to Set Up a Lead Generation Form on Your Company Page

Lead generation forms are a relatively new innovation for LinkedIn company pages which we’ve recently begun using. They allow visitors to your page to be directed to a web page you nominate. You can see who fills in the form and can then message them.

Setting up a lead gen form is easy. Simply go to the Analytics menu tab on your page (below) and click Leads at the bottom. Follow the prompts on the page that opens. You will need to have a privacy policy on your website to set this up.

Once you have finished adding a lead gen form, it will display like this to visitors of your page:

When visitors click your link it will take them to your lead gen form where they add their email address, giving you permission to message them.

However, it doesn’t appear that the page or its super admin are sent notifications about anyone completing the form (but we might have merely missed this) so it’s best to check. To do that, go to Analytics and click on Leads which brings up this chart.

From here you can download details of the person which include:

???Company name or the company they work for

?? Job title

???Email Address

?? Last Name

???First Name

?? Submitted Time

???E-mail Consent

?? Form location

It is fair to say that this is currently rudimentary but over time LinkedIn often improves its features and given that it is constantly encouraging us toward paid advertising, it is reasonable to assume that it will improve these in response to demand.

NEW free e-book – How to Build Relationships on LinkedIn

No alt text provided for this image

Building a strong network of connections who know you, like you and trust you – often called a tribe – opens doors to opportunities you didn’t know existed. But in or fast-paced, must-get-sales-today world, building relationships is often overshadowed by the unfortunate rise of ‘connect then spam’. This destroys trust and truly irritates people.

So, on a recent webinar we talked with networking guru, Tom Broxham, about the best ways to use LinkedIn to build strong networks that will help you achieve your professional goals on LinkedIn. We shared such a wealth of ideas and advice that after the event (which you can see here:?https://linkability.biz/3sz4ZMn) we turned our discussion into an e-book. If you are interested in practical tips on how to master networking on LinkedIn, you are welcome to download it FREE at?https://linkability.biz/3FHF4Hw.

Fingers crossed our product page will be approved and we can provide more information about them for the next newsletter. This is one of my favourite new features, product pages will offer a whole heap of potential for Company Pages going forward!
