Here’s what’s new or noticed on LinkedIn in the last month.

?? The Audio Events feature is now available worldwide and especially to those with Creator mode on (see our article below for how these work).

?? We can now repost content instead of sharing if we choose without adding additional text.

When you repost from your profile, your post goes back into your newsfeed. It’s uncertain if this has any value unless you want to reuse a previous post about an upcoming event.

When you change your identity under the ‘Comment, react, and repost as’ button and repost, it will repost on the feed of the identity you’ve chosen. This is ideal when you want to repost from your profile to your page (below).

?? In addition, we will soon be able to share other members’ content off LinkedIn, directly to Twitter and Facebook. It’s not clear whether we will be able to share our own content this way or only others’.

?? To see connections in common with a 2nd degree connection, go to their profile, click the ? in the Messaging box on the bottom right of your screen. Click View connections to and a list of names/profiles will display. (Thanks to Kevin D. Turner for this nifty new feature.)

?? We’ve noticed a change (or hopefully just a glitch) to the way websites display in the Contact info section. Previously, when choosing Other as the option when adding a new website, a dropdown box appeared allowing a short description to be added. This has now disappeared. However, when viewing the section on desktop, the previously added descriptions still display but cannot be edited. On mobile they simply show as Other. (See image below.)

Audio events now available!

Many people now have the new Audio Events feature, especially if they have Creator mode switched on.

This is a great way to build a new audience as has been clearly demonstrated on Clubhouse in recent times.

Audio events are easy to set up (when compared with Lives) and to host. Instead of the formality of a presentation, they tend toward the more conversational. People in the audience may choose to request to speak, and the host can either accept or decline depending on how they choose to run the event.

We like these because it’s so easy to interact with connections, followers, potential customers and others in an informal way. It’s like having your own talkback radio station.

Being new, there are naturally some downsides. There is no comment facility yet, they’re not currently available from company pages (coming soon) and they can be awkward to promote. Still, these are just teething troubles and the upsides more than outweigh the downsides. People who are already converts to Clubhouse will be early adopters of Audio.
