LinkedIn new Feature - Career Break

Welcome back to?another edition of World Of Financial markets. Todays edition is to let you know about a new beautiful and fantastic feature which #LinkedIn has brought a while ago about "Career Break" If you want to know more on it , keep on reading .

If not all but most of us may have taken a break from our career either in between or may be currently due to various reason . Be it studying , travel, spending and taking care of your loved ones or taking time off to find your passion . Previously , In the Experience section of your profile, LinkedIn only had the option to mention the work experience in terms of where you have worked but no dropdown to select anything to mention about the break in your career , in the past or current. So here it, the new feature to fill the gap. Now one can add a section in the Experience section of your profile where you can add the details about your career break in terms of the reason , date of the period of the break and it will be reflected in your profile . Something similar below you will see in your profile , you can check it here Mustufa Petiwala .

Below is the snip of how the career break section looks on my profile :

You can mention the career break relating to Bereavement , Career Transition, Caregiving , Full-time parenting , Gap year, LayOff/position eliminated, Health and well being, Personal goal pursuit, Professional development, Relocation, Retirement, Travel or Voluntary work

  1. Click the?Me?icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage, then?View profile.
  2. Click?Add profile?section?button in your introduction section.
  3. Click?Core?dropdown, then?Add career break.
  4. In the?Add career break?pop-up that appears, enter your information into the fields provided.
  5. Click?Save.
  6. Repeat the above steps to add more career breaks to your profile.

Important to know

Your network won’t be notified when you add a career break to your profile.

To edit or delete a Career Break:

  1. Click the?Me?icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage, then?View profile.
  2. Scroll down to the?Experience?section.
  3. From here you can:

  • Edit: Click the??
  • Edit?icon next to the?Career break?you'd like to edit, and after editing, click?Save.
  • Delete: Click the?
  • Edit?icon next to the?Career break?you'd like to remove, then click?Delete experience?and confirm?Delete.
