Let's say you've just returned home from an incredible event.
You met so many inspiring entrepreneurs, exchanged helpful insights, and brought home a wealth of knowledge.
But now, it's time to take action and turn those in-person connections into highly valuable and engaged members of your online audience that can multiply your visibility and propel your business forward.
In this edition of The Modern Entrepreneur newsletter, I'm sharing premier post-event networking follow-up tips and strategies, along with message templates that you can use to effectively engage with your new contacts on LinkedIn in a way that STICKS and makes you STAND OUT.
Let's dive in.
The Importance of Post-Event Connection Requests
I've witnessed firsthand the transformative power of strategic networking. Especially at in-person events — it is one of the most pivotal activities for entrepreneurs who want to expand their influence, generate leads, and scale with speed.
Seriously. Just take a look at last year's Burnout to All Out Live event and you'll know what I mean ??
But if we're being honest...
(which we always are — it's kinda our thing around here)
It's the strategy employed AFTER these events that defines the sustainability and quality of the connections made.
Sending that first message post-event is your chance to make a lasting impression. It shows that you take your personal and professional growth seriously and that you are proactive and committed to building meaningful relationships.
Plus, it's an opportunity to drop them some more information or advice that you may not have had time to share at the event.
As a result, this intro message can increase your visibility and chances of being so dang memorable that when opportunities emerge or when they run into a problem that you have the solution for, YOU are the first person they think of!?

Crafting Personalized Connection Request Messages
The first step you want to take after meeting potential customers, collaborators, or partners at an in-person event:
Send each of them a well-crafted, personalized LinkedIn connection request.
These messages should be sent promptly, ideally within 48 hours after the event has ended. In each individual message, remind them of the topics you discussed and any shared jokes or insights to jog their memory so they can pinpoint exactly who you are. To polish it off, just express a genuine desire to continue the conversation.
Whatever you do, keep it real and thoughtful — no salesy self-promo or boring generic messages, okay?
Now, like any driven entrepreneur, you're one hell of a busy bee, so I took the liberty of whipping up a few templates to give you a head start on writing messages that get opened (and responded to!) ??????
