LinkedIn Locksmith Tip: 3 Questions to Answer BEFORE You Send An Invitation To Connect on LinkedIn.

If you don't have a tangible reason for wanting to connect with someone via LinkedIn, save your invitations to connect.

Why?

Just because you have several people in common with someone on LinkedIn doesn't mean anything. This rationale is like saying, just because we are in the same room networking with other people, we should just automatically connect.

When you see someone on LinkedIn that you want to connect with, ask yourself the following 3 questions:

1. What am I looking to accomplish by connecting with this individual?

2. What value can I bring to this connection?

3. Am I looking to simply increase my number of LinkedIn connections or do I genuinely want to build an offline professional relationship

Once you give thought to the above questions, then craft a PERSONALIZED NOTE for the person you want to invite into your LinkedIn network sharing why you desire to connect with them and what you are looking to accomplish.

BE HONEST, because your lack of sincerity or psudeo interest will cause you to lose the connection.

Remember, true networking is not about what you get from people, it's about what you give to others.
