Every week you’ll receive timely analysis from off-the-beaten-path, perspectives from the ecosystem, and selected opportunities to further engage with Israel, the Startup Nation.

It's already October and the beginning of fall... how time flies. Depending on the spread of the variant, conference season could be soon upon us. TBD but I hope I’ll be able to attend a number of conferences in person, and see how the Startup Nation is putting its best foot forward.?

I didn’t noodle too long on this idea of going back to my roots to help empower professionals to create content. I’m going to continue and further develop this idea, particularly how young professionals can use content to forward their careers as well as how professionals in tech and venture can build thought leadership.

LinkedIn Top Startups 2021: The 15 Israeli companies on the rise : I'm happy to see this list, and that LinkedIn used their own criteria to choose promising startups from Israel. This criteria according to LinkedIn includes "employee growth; jobseeker interest; member engagement with the company and its employees; and how well these startups pulled talent from our flagship LinkedIn Top Companies list."

Tel Aviv did get knocked down one notch in Startup Genome's Global Startup Ecosystem Report: Tel Aviv Dips To 7th Place In Global Startup Ecosystem Report , to number 7th. I actually think Israel hasn't hit its real stride yet, so let's put things in perspective. At this point it's not surprising that companies on LinkedIn's list are in verticals aside from enterprise B2B and cyber. Israel has already established itself dominating those verticals, and is now seeing major success in verticals such as fintech, proptech, and agritech. But as I've covered in my previous writing, where I personally see the most opportunity is the next generation of founders who grew up in Israeli founded unicorns and who are now venturing on their own.?

It is another benchmark for the Startup Nation that LinkedIn has dedicated a list to the country's ecosystem (and that Gong, an Israeli founded company is #2 on LinkedIn Top Startups 2021: The 50 U.S. companies on the rise ). Not all of these companies are the hyped-up unicorns which dominate these types of lists, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I also suspect it's the number of Israeli professionals who have started using LinkedIn during the pandemic which influenced the decision to create this list. Looking forward to seeing who makes the 2022 list, and it may be that LinkedIn may need to increase this list to include more startups.
