Business Analytics & AI Honors Scholar at The University of Texas at Dallas | Summer 2024 Inventory Analyst Intern @ Target | Microsoft Ambassador @ UTD
This summer, I have been interning at Target’s corporate office in Minneapolis, Minnesota. My role as an inventory analyst intern working within the Ulta Beauty department has been truly enriching. I’ve learned so much and connected with many talented people along the way. I’d especially like to give a shout out to my amazing team and program leaders for their ongoing support and dedication to cultivating a great learning environment for us.
Of the many important skills I have learned, some of the most notable skills include performing analyses on Excel and? performing data filtration and manipulation in Target’s internal database. I was able to apply these skills on our Ulta Beauty project, which required an in-depth analysis of presentation minimums within Target’s partnership with Ulta Beauty. Over the past few weeks, we have been able to leverage this data to provide insight into regional trends for the business. My team and I have been able to work on this project through extensive guidance under our assigned mentor and manager. We also have the resources to receive additional input from professionals in other departments. In the coming weeks ahead, my team and I will present our work to our project stakeholders for feedback and review. There will also be an opportunity for us to conduct a project showcase to share our work on a larger level to others at the company.
Apart from project experience, what I love most about my experience so far is the opportunity to connect. Not only have I been able to connect with many great peers this summer establishing lifelong friendships, but I have also learned so much from the welcoming professional network at Target. The encouragement of having open one-on-one conversations a.k.a “Get to Know Yous” at Target has been really rewarding. The company encourages everyone to reach out to others and learn more about their skill sets and experiences. There is also a great resource for receiving internal mentorship through Target’s internal workday system.
Overall, this experience has been truly enriching. I have been able to network and expand my skills greatly, which will guide my career journey in the future.
