LINKEDIN IMAGES - SIZES AND TIPS

Making images for your LinkedIn profile on a budget can be challenging, especially if your computer skills and social media aren't your bag.
Questions and pain points I hear from my clients - Why can't all the platforms have the same image sizes? Why can't the sizes stay the same from year to year? Can't you just use the same image for both?! How do I get it to "look good"? Why won't it just scale?
It would be great if we could use the same image everywhere (like it would be if a glass of wine tasted the same everywhere!) But this is not going to happen unfortunately!
So what about your images? Who does them and how?
It depends on what budget you have and time.
It depends on how clear you are on your branding and what stage you are in your business.
It depends on if you have any skills in graphic design, and access to software.
It depends on what content you are posting too!
The best "non-graphic designer skills needed" software I have tested is Canva and there is a decent free version that freelancers and solopreneurs can use to create their images and branding.
The pro-version is even better, there are features like "Re-size" that are time and effort savers when it comes to creating similar images for multiple platforms.
In Canva, you can create a template canvas with dimensions already listed in the software, so the likes of Facebook posts, profile photos etc are easy to create. However, Canva does not list all of the types of images needed (but will remember the dimensions once you have set them!)
It can be confusing on different platforms what size image to use. I have used the Events feature on LinkedIn and it's not always 100% clear. For example, I find that 1776 x 444 is best for the Events Banner image but it doesn't state this for creators clearly.
Especially when you don't have a graphic design background it can be frustrating, trying to get your profile to look good, and come across as professional!
Here is a handy list of LinkedIn image sizes to help you craft your profile and content.
Personal pages:
LinkedIn profile picture size: 400 x 400
LinkedIn background photo size: 1584 x 396
LinkedIn post image size: 1200 x 1200 (desktop) 1200 x 628 (mobile)
LinkedIn link post size: 1200 x 628
LinkedIn video size: 256 x 144 (minimum) to 4096 x 2304 (maximum)
Maximum time for LinkedIn video: 10 minutes
LinkedIn Banner - Canva templates
Company pages:
LinkedIn company logo size: 300 x 300
LinkedIn Page banner image: 1128 x 191
LinkedIn Dynamic Ads: 100 x 100 (company logo)
LinkedIn Sponsored Content image: 1200 x 627
LinkedIn Business Banner image: 646 x 220
LinkedIn Events
LinkedIn Event Banner: 1776 x 444
LinkedIn Event Logo: 400 x 400
LinkedIn Events default images:
As you can see, if you are going to create an event, you will need a logo sized image and a large eye-catching banner at the top of the event to give people more of an idea about your event and why they should attend. The default images are a little bit better than the blue star image used by LinkedIn up till recently... but you wouldn't want them to advertise your event!
Do you need help with your LinkedIn profile? Talk to me about what you are stuck on, and we can decide if you want a Smartypants makeover!
I work with some great graphic designers if you need the support and are ready to invest in your business.
If not, I can help you use Canva, re-size images and help you get going.
