LinkedIn Has Officially Adopted Short Form Video Content - Have You?

Buckle up, motherf*ckers! LinkedIn is officially the cool kid on the block. They’ve finally adopted short-form video content. Yes, the platform where your boss's headshot is crisper than their business plan is diving into the world of short form entertainment. So, what does this mean for you? Time to start lip-syncing your quarterly reports? Not exactly. But here’s why this shift is more exciting and important than you think.

?? Why Should You Care?

Because this is your moment to shine, that's why! I don't even know why I'm wasting time writing this newsletter article because we no longer live in a read-first society. We crave video. With that being said, LinkedIn’s new short-form video feature is your golden ticket to stand out. Imagine this: instead of posting a dry “thought leadership” post that reads like a thesaurus sneezed on your keyboard, you can now engage your audience with quick videos that scream, “I’m not just another suit!” Remember how important authenticity is? This is how you can begin to show it!

But before you dust off your TikTok dances, remember this is LinkedIn. It's all about “business in the front, party in the back.” Short-form videos here should be slick, smart, and offer real value. I could be the worst example here because a lot of my content is all about "party in the front, party in the back", but I'm me and you are you.

?? Mastering the Short-Form Game: B2B Style

So, how can B2B companies cash in on this trend? Simple. Short-form videos are perfect for driving leads and sales by transforming boring bullsh*t into entertaining and engaging bullsh*t. I'm sort of just kidding here, but you get the picture.

Here’s how to make short-form video your best friend:

  1. Product Teasers & Explainers: Turn those 50-slide pitch decks into bite-sized, digestible videos. Think “elevator pitch meets tequila shot.” Highlight your product’s key features, benefits, and why your audience needs it. Look at your pitch deck and come up with 3-5 video ideas per slide. It can be a very quick and effective way to start pumping out video content without taking up too much time.
  2. Customer Testimonials: Get your happy customers to share their experiences in short clips. Nothing sells better than social proof that’s easy to consume. Don't have any? Go get some!
  3. Industry Insights & Tips: Become the go-to expert in your niche. Share quick tips, industry trends, or insightful commentary. Position yourself as the knowledgeable, yet approachable, authority in your field. A great example here would be Jimmy Kim , founder of Sendlane . Whenever you think of e-mail experts on X or LinkedIn, Jimmy's name is one of the first to come up. Why is that? Because he knows his sh*t and posts 3-4x a day. He's a decent guy too, but he has literally shown how an effective content strategy can rake in results.
  4. Behind-the-Scenes Content: Show the human side of your brand or business. Whether it’s a peek into company culture or the process behind your latest product, these are the things your audience wants to see! Be authentic and don't be afraid to showcase that.

?? The Ultimate Strategy: The 5-3-1 Approach

Ready for the secret sauce? It’s called the 5-3-1 Strategy. Simple, effective, and will sky rocket your growth and engagement.

  • 5 Videos a Week: Post five short-form videos per week that cover the points above. (Teasers, Tips, Tricks, etc) "You want me to post five videos a week?" Ummm, yeah. It's not that hard Carol, relax.
  • 3 Engagement Boosters: Use three videos to ask questions or start discussions. Engage your audience by making them a part of the conversation. Don't forget to actually respond to every single person who took the time out of their day to comment on your video! It's called social media for a reason. Be social!
  • 1 Call to Action (CTA): Wrap it up with a CTA in one video a week. Whether it’s to sign up for a webinar, download a newsletter, or schedule a demo. This keeps your content purposeful and drives measurable results.

TL;DR

LinkedIn’s jump into short-form video is your chance to blend professionalism with a dash of personality. It’s time to ditch the Harry Potter length posts and become a master at short form video. With a strategic approach, you can transform LinkedIn into your most powerful lead-generation tool. Oh yeah, you can't forget about X. Apply the same strategy there ;)

Alright, that's all I have for now. My mom called me twice and wants to talk about why we haven't talked in a while.

I have three kids under 5 mom. Two of them still sh*t their pants. I've been a little busy.
