LinkedIn has no future...

...or that's what many naysayers would have you believe!

And why?  Because LinkedIn is being bought by Microsoft!

But why should that be deemed a negative? The general consensus seems to be that people are concerned with Microsoft getting to know too much about us as they will have access to all our personal and business stuff on LinkedIn.  They are frightened that MS will start to target us and try to sell their products and services.

But surely the better they know us, the better they can target us, the less rubbish comes our way!

Take Tesco Clubcard as an example.  Because they know what I buy, and when I buy it, they only send me relevant stuff.  Special offers, vouchers, enticements to buy things that they know will be of interest to me.  They keep the rubbish to a limit so there is very little waste.  Fewer trees are wasted on stuff that is of no interest to me.

If MS get to know more about me through my LinkedIn profile then great, it means they can send me targetted stuff that may be of interest to me.  I won't have to waste valuable time sifting through tons of rubbish and risk missing out on the one important nugget because I lost the will to continue.

I see the combination of these two organisations as nothing but exciting and look forward to the next phase of developments that will filter through.

Believe in the future by creating it first.....
