Linkedin has changed and it’s no longer about connecting blindly to get clients. All the tactics of shooting at the dark by connecting and sending messages in bulk are now long gone.
Linkedin has again taken a step to curb the spammers on Linkedin, and make the platform more efficient. You have a weekly limit of new connections that you can send which is estimated to be around 100 new connection open requests per week.
This creates a big hole in some of the Linkedin lead generation strategies that were so effective a couple of years back.
It is now *all* about pre-contact sequencing in order to win clients
In other words, what happens before any form of contact is made will make or break the chances of booking qualified calls.
It’s become known as the ‘setting the table’ process
Because, just like any successful dinner party, it’s all about the preparation that goes in before the guests arrive that makes or breaks the success of the event
LinkedIn has totally changed in 2021 and the pace of change is only going to accelerate
Those LinkedIn users already seeing a reduction in the amount of calls getting booked are going to get hit EVER harder and are going to really struggle to fill their calendars
The savvy entrepreneurs have already made their move, and they know that
- Linkedin 2019 - people got results from spamming the inbox at volume and seeing what dropped into the calendar
- Linkedin 2020 - it was all about digital personalisation
- LinkedIn 2021 - it’s all about what happens in the 7 days before contact is even made with a prospect
And there are 3 psychological principals, that when used together, mean that this ‘setting the table’ process works so well
They are practically wired into the human brain and we can’t avoid them
1. If people do something for us, we are more likely to do something for them - this is known as reciprocity
2. If we see people with more frequency, we are wired to trust them more - known as familiarity - used by all the successful persuasion experts
3. Time Compression and the authority amplification principal
The last one and Probably the most powerful of all is the idea of taking our time. When people rush into engagements, it gives away their status and authority and makes it hard to get the right people on the call.
But, when we are aloof and ‘hard to get’ then everything gets easier
When we ‘set the table’ using these 3 principals we consistently land calls with ‘hard to reach’ prospects, who feel like they know us, are pre-disposed to do something for us *and* see us an authority.
So have you experienced any limitations with you invite new connection limits?
