If we have been connected for some time you will have seen a big change in my posting activities. In December I asked myself what I could do more of to help serve others while bringing value to myself. Why not use LinkedIn as a harness to do so? Since I do work in marketing, I started to feel like I had to do as I say AND as I do; which I haven't with social media. For the past 60+ days I have been working on my strategy to develop a larger network on LinkedIn, network more in person, and share simple, general knowledge that would benefit everyone, including sales people (agnostic of industry). I want to be a service to others, specifically the ones within the organization I work for.
I've been a LinkedIn member since 2014. So why would you focus your marketing efforts on LinkedIn?
Firstly, it is the most undervalued, underutilized GROWING social media platform with SO much potential.
Some random recent facts are:
- LinkedIn now has over 500 million members - and growing.
- LinkedIn is the most-used social media platform amongst Fortune 500 companies.
- 61 million LinkedIn users are senior level influencers and 40 million are in decision-making positions.
- How-to & list posts perform the best on LinkedIn.
- 40% of monthly active users use LinkedIn daily.
- Just under half (44%) of all LinkedIn users are women.
I like to call LinkedIn the "bumble" of social media. In online dating, 9 times out of 10 you meet people you never would have met. LinkedIn is similar, minus the dating. It can bring you business opportunities, gives you a chance to stay engaged with your customers and create meaningful connections that you simply would have not had without it. Over the last few years I have seen how LinkedIn can elevate someone’s online profile and develop a network of likeminded individuals. LinkedIn gives you an opportunity to consistently showcase your achievements, your work history, any volunteer work you may do, as well as write or post articles on the products you sell.
Just like marketing your business, building your brand on LinkedIn is very simple when you put effort in, have a plan mapped out with a goal and intent/service in mind.
