The LinkedIn Game of Clones
We live in a world of geniuses. One-of-a-kind gurus, wizards, and masters, of the social media and marketing kind. They dominate this land of LinkedIn, post “5 Reasons Why” articles with watermarked stock images to websites you’ve never heard of, and may as well stake their claim as the rightful heir to the social media throne.
Right now, I’m engaged in a mental debate with myself - which is worse? The “earn a secondary form of passive income” message or the mindless content that clogs the LinkedIn feed like that regrettable late night Taco Bell visit clogs the… yeah you get it.
Let me tell ya, I do respect the hustle. The persistence, the initiative. That’s someone taking that first step, a step further than most. But we’re starting to see a shift on this platform, one that I’m excited to get on board with.
And unfortunately for our gurus, the king sitting on social media’s iron throne has, and always will be: GOOD content.
Articulating your thoughts and musings into an enjoyable article, linking connections to your posts for words of encouragement or inspiration, putting up photos taken from your phone of something that happened at work today, or even just re-sharing a post you know your connections would like. This is the content that rocks.
We’re approaching peak LinkedIn, and I love it. I’m starting to spend more and more time scrolling on here vs. other social media sites because the content you all are posting is flat-out awesome! I’m joining in on the fun with this post and will have more to come. At any rate, winter is coming, so don’t compete in the Game of Clones, and instead, join the ranks of those making the land of LinkedIn what it was truly meant to be.
(You can start with telling me what you think about my first article on here: Agree? Disagree? What kind of content do you enjoy? Drop me a comment or message!)

7 年Agree! It is interesting to see the groundswell of participation. When I can trust the content is the individual it gives meaning to the connection. I find myself skimming faster over the accounts that clearly use a content generation team to "crank" it out.
