Gabriela Gonzalez, PhD, is a professor of physics and astronomy at Louisiana State University. After earning her doctorate in Physics, González began working as a professor at Louisiana State University, and in 2008, became the first woman to receive a full professorship in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. González was the only woman on the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) team which made the first-ever detection of gravitational waves in 2015.
