What's In A Name? A lot apparently, and I need your help LinkedIn. I mean, isn't that what a community is for? (If you have a moment and can afford to review the names currently being considered and share your thoughts - you can check them out here.)
Why another newsletter and why on LinkedIn?
My first LinkedIn newsletter was rebranded from "Follow The Crowd" when I led sales for a company in the equity crowdfunding industry. The purpose was to educate potential investors in ECF, an educational need that is still underdeveloped.
You can still find older editions of "FTC" in the rebranded, "Stop Selling; Stop Selling" newsletter with just under 3,500 subscribers. (need to market it better.) This periodic newsletter embodies what I internalized from one of the OG's of sales Zig Ziglar and it became my selling mindset. "Stop Selling; Stop Selling" - Thoughts, Lessons, and Rumblings from 30 years of Sales and Sales Leadership. The layout will be updated with the latest edition later this week.
"What I Learned This Weekend" is a weekly newsletter of what I learned from posts I saved, people I followed, articles I read, and what I found on social media that was recently launched and has almost 800 subscribers.
So why another newsletter and why on LinkedIn? I have a (somewhat) monthly, and weekly one, and I felt the need for a daily one. My purpose is, to be brutally honest, a self-serving one.
Almost a year ago Gary Vaynerchuk ; yes "GaryVee", who is to me someone different than he may or may mean to you reading this. Gary and I first met in person back in 2013. Since then I've learned a lot from him, and even more importantly, select what to apply and what is not for me. Over the years I've had the opportunity to share a cup of ? with him, catch right before the Jets play the Dolphins, or a quality 1-on1 in the green room before one of his keynotes. I've appreciated each second of what is arguably the busiest guy in the digital age. He's now a friend and more importantly, a mentor of mine involving digital, marketing, and branding.
His LinkedIn post almost a year ago struck a chord in me that reminded me of when he first shared his reasoning for encouraging people to document their lives in different ways (social media, blog, vlog) in his "Document, Don't Create" seven-minute film 7 years ago.
Now fifty years old, with almost three decades in sales, marketing, consulting, and leadership; a husband, a father, and a grandfather, whatever I've learned or shared in my world, I want to leave this to my family. With one thing I've said, written, shared, or posted, helps my family avoid making a mistake, or improves their life....that's why I'm adding another newsletter.
Why LinkedIn? Mostly because I have little experience in Substack and no experience with beehiiv . But I'm going to learn.
