LinkedIn is not doing it for me
LinkedIn is meant to be a community to bridge people and industries. Instead, it's become the largest platform for internal corporate communication and yet another social network where we applaud the achievements of people within our nearest circle. It's based on the same factors as any social media - self-gratifying "likes" driven platform.
Trust me; I want it to be more. I've written articles, shared learnings and achievements which I found relevant for the community and me. I even bought the premium plan to access more, but I have not understood the premium features, besides knowing who clicked on my profile.
The ideal LinkedIn for me would be a distilled version of what it's become -without the noise of cover photos, endorsements, dodgy premium features and the endless hunt for connections as they were Pokemon.
I would find it interesting with meetups arranged by LinkedIn. AirB&B has succeeded in bridging the gap between online and offline by organising community meetups. -What if we could explore the same possibilities through LinkedIn? I believe that it would create a more profound meaning, and it would certainly mean a new connection.
I will continue to use LinkedIn; I love to keep up with what is happening around me. What I'm trying to say is that we can all make this platform better together.
PS. Could we please stop sharing irrelevant "fun" videos transformed into metaphors for describing the value of team effort or "thinking outside the box" - we all know it's a legitimised way of drifting away from work to watch "inspirational" videos ;)

5 年It sounds like you might have to do a ”clean up” among your connections. I think Linkedin is great! I try to Only follow People with relevant content if it feels like spam I remove them from my network. And final thoughts, what is the first thing you Will do to make the network better?
