Let’s get started…

Many business owners are making a BIG mistake when it comes to LinkedIn. And it's not that they're ignoring it…?

In fact, a whopping 89% of B2B marketers use LinkedIn for lead-gen purposes in 2023.?

So, what’s the mistake?

Well, entrepreneurs often ‘fall at the first hurdle’ when it comes to attracting top prospects on LinkedIn… and converting them into sales appointments.?

Because they struggle to get people to even accept their connection requests.?

And that’s the one step that unlocks everything else.?

Now in my experience, one of the main reasons people fail to get connections is that…??

Business owners make their profile all about THEMSELVES… rather than about their prospects.

That makes sense on the surface.? After all, it is their profile... shouldn’t they talk about themselves?

The problem is that when your LinkedIn page is all about YOU, it dramatically reduces the chances of prospects accepting your connection requests.

Because people need to immediately see why your profile is relevant to them. If they don’t, they won’t see the benefit in connecting with you. And they simply won’t do it.

That’s why, if you want to make potential clients ecstatic to become part of your world…

…you need to take a counter-intuitive approach. Which is to make your LinkedIn profile all about your ideal prospects and the problems you can help them solve.?

The obvious next question is… how do you create a profile like that??

Well, there are multiple steps. But today, I want to show you how to quickly spruce up two KEY areas of your LinkedIn profile -- your headline and your “about” section. So you can instantly improve your ability to connect with quality prospects.

How to Craft a LinkedIn Headline That Turns Heads

The crucial thing to remember about your headline is that it accompanies everything you do on LinkedIn. Whenever you share an article, send a connection request, or comment on a thread, your headline is always visible.

So it’s one of the most important pieces of real estate on the platform. And it’s critical to get this right if you want to make a great first impression with your prospects.?

To do that, your headline shouldn’t simply be your job title. It should include info about who you help and what you do.

See, most prospects will not “dig through the weeds” to look at everything you’ve written in your full profile. If your headline doesn’t grab them, then they’ll move on.?

So you also want your headline to speak to your differentiators…?

What makes you different or unique? Why should somebody do business with you over a competitor? If there's a really succinct way of getting that across, that is the goal.

Also, avoid only listing your title and the name of your company. That’s the format 90% of LinkedIn users use. And it doesn’t communicate much of anything to the people you want to grab the attention of. Instead, take it a step further.

A good format to consider is: “[title], [company name] | We help [avatar] [benefit] [how]”

For example: Owner, Drippler | We help app developers land in the top 1% of their category searches.

How to Transform Your “About” Section into a Client Magnet

This is another super important area of your profile. And it’s one of the first places your prospects will go to find out more about you and your business.

For this section, you want to begin by outlining WHO you are looking to work with (your ideal client). And from there, you want to touch on what their main pain points are (or in other words, the problems you can help them solve)...?

…and then explain HOW you can help them overcome those pain points. Typically, this will be a brief overview of how you tend to work with people.?

Finally, you want to demonstrate why YOU are the best person to help your prospects solve their problem(s). And you can do that by including info about your credentials, awards you’ve received, the years of experience you have, client case studies, or testimonials.?

(This is the first thing you’ll find on many profiles, but it should actually come last. Because it’s only important once you’ve shown prospects that you can help them.)

Alright! That wraps up today’s LinkedIn profile optimization tips…?

I hope this gave you some killer insights that will allow you to improve your LinkedIn profile -- and start attracting more high-value sales opportunities for your business right away.

I can't tell you how many people get this wrong at the beginning. Your headline is not as much about describing YOU as describing why your prospect should connect. The good news is that a headline is easy to fix and can make a big difference.
