Are LinkedIn changes planned or spontaneous?

Maybe you also remember that LinkedIn news and articles were quite different couple of years ago. Almost all of new posts were strictly focused on the professional, work side of life these times.
But now? Amongst work matter posts you can read more and more about heroes saving a dog, that oceans cleanup has begun, posts about life style, rather marketing commercials, motivational videos, recommendations about the necessity about work-life balance, etc.
Are these changes planned from LinkedIn to become more social then professionals platform only, or are these changes rather spontaneous evolution LinkedIn cannot prevent?
