LinkedIn Can Change Your Life Forever

Three and a half years ago I realized I was wasting a lot of time watching videos on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Netflix, and also playing video games on my phone.
I wanted to grow personally, professionally, and financially; however, I wasn't spending my personal time in a meaningful way that would enable me to accomplish my objectives.
Somehow I came across LinkedIn, and it changed my life forever. I had an account already but I thought this platform was just to store my resume and apply to job openings.
That may have been the case 15 years ago... but it had certainly evolved since then.
This is considered the most professional platform in which people empower, inspire, and support each other... so I definitely wanted to be a part of it, but there was a problem.
I was TERRIFIED to put a Like on any post because of what others could think of me.
What if my colleagues or manager saw me engaging on LinkedIn? Would they have thought I was looking for other career opportunities? I was working at a $4 billion organization.
Somehow I managed to get courage... and pressed that Like button.
I didn't really know what I was doing but today I can appreciate that Like was a spark, just like in an engine... you need the first spark to move the cylinders for your vehicle to move.
Likes don't do much for you in terms of growth or building meaningful relationships; I'm glad I realized that, so I pushed myself to comment meaningfully on other people's posts.
Now I was helping others get exposure, but what about my own? How was I going to position myself professionally if all I did was contribute on other people's posts?
So I started writing my own original content, and I did it in the form of articles, just like this one... I spent all my commute time on the bus, subway, and street car writing articles.
I would spend around an hour, sometimes a bit more, sharing as much knowledge and experience I could with the LinkedIn community so that other jobseekers could benefit.
Why did I do this? Because I had a pretty easy time since I immigrated to Canada almost 18 years ago... I got my interview within a week and also the job offer, I found it so easy.
Yet, when I found LinkedIn three and a half years ago all I could read was jobseekers complaining about not getting interviews, getting rejected and ghosted without explanation.

I wrote 18 articles but realized people don't have much attention span and that real engagement would come if I wrote posts instead... so I shifted over to writing posts.
I have written over 2,100 posts in the last three years, gotten over 65 million organic views and 250,000 followers... you might be asking yourself, what are those good for anyway?
I'm glad you asked... I asked myself the same thing, and it took me a year and a half to realize that the more people who follow you the more social validation you have.
If you want to position yourself in your industry you better start building a community around you... the interesting thing though is that it's not about you at all. What?!?!
Right... let me explain, it's not about you but about those you want to serve, those you want to empower, inspire, help, guide, and protect; they should be your main focus, not you.
Give, give, give, and when you think you are done giving, give again — Brian Golod
You would not believe how much I have given without expectations, and will continue.
I wholeheartedly believe that everyone deserves to live meaningfully, purposefully, and comfortably, so I am doing my part to impact positively one person at a time worldwide.
I am so committed to empowering professionals worldwide like you that I invite you to introduce yourself in the comments so that others can find you and you can advance.
Feel free to share your industry, title, role, years of experience, and geographic location... if you want to have an even greater impact, share your thoughts, perspective and opinion, too.
Remember what I said above, I was TERRIFIED to engage on LinkedIn but once I overcame that fear I discovered a whole new world; you grow when you are uncomfortable.
