Happy September folks!
As usual there have been lots of exciting NEW updates for August - it can be hard to keep up. In fact this is another bumper packed issue...
Want to know more? Stick the kettle on, grab a cuppa and let's go!
August 2022
Algorithm
LinkedIn have shared how the news feed algorithm works to decide what shows up in your feed. You will see:
The algorithm filters out low-quality and unsafe content. To influence what you see, LinkedIn recommends you:
Use the three dots on a post to tell LinkedIn what you don’t want to see and why. Time to stop complaining about your newsfeed and take control!
If you want to read more about the algorithm click HERE
Follow me on LinkedIn
You can now generate a code which creates a 'follow me' button for LinkedIn.
I discovered this one day by accident while exploring Content Creator Tools. Head in there to learn more! I was excited to see that I've now also got access to Audio Events.
It would be nice if we were 'told' these things but quite often we find out by chance - for me it's usually in the middle of a client 1:1 session. ??
Share / Repost
It's always been best practice to add a thoughtful comment to something when sharing but sadly a lot of people are reposting links to articles with no comments... LinkedIn have now given us both options when you click on 'share'.
I wouldn't bother with 'repost' as people are time poor so you need tell them exactly why they need to read the attached with a strong call to action.
Stickers
If you post from a mobile device, you can add stickers to images or videos. I'm personally not a fan are you? I don't think of 'stickers' when I think of LinkedIn and my brand.
Clickable link
You can now add a clickable link to your posts.
You can add any link to any image or video with text. When you have the update, if you start a post with a photo or video, you will see a chain link symbol when editing the media. Tap on the chain link and add a URL and display text.
I'm sharing a delicious rum and raisin bread pudding I recently had in Mevagissey in Cornwall! If you look at the bottom of the image the link is the 3rd item in from the left.
Templates
If you click Post on a mobile, an option is rolling out to ‘use a template’ to help you create engaging content. Have you got the option yet?
If you want to see how to do this 'in action' and see other visual content features being rolled out check out the video on this article. I'm finding that the feature is working really well in my group and is great for grabbing attention!
Events
LinkedIn has published a?guide?to run an effective event. You can learn more HERE
You can join my next LinkedIn live this coming Friday, September 9th at 1pm 'Content that converts - how to warm up your audience so they buy from you' HERE
LinkedIn Live - Networking Tab
I've always thought that LinkedIn Lives are a great place to network and build your network as well as listening to the actual live. Several of the people who have attended my lives have ended up collaborating or becoming paying clients of each other.
Two of the fab ladies who attended my live last week are testament to this and have since worked together !
LinkedIn have just introduced a 'networking tab' to any event page.
I'm attaching a screenshot from my last live and if you look to the top right hand corner you'll see Comments and Networking.
If you want to put this into practice join my live tomorrow .

As you'll spot from the right hand side, attendees are personally sorted for you by:
? 1st degree Connections
? Attendees from your industry
? Attendees in total
You are able to message all of the attendees even if they're not in your network - similar to being a fellow group member. I'm curious - will you now attend lives to 'network'?
On another note I recently held my live on my company page versus my profile and was worried what the reach and engagement would be.
I think this screenshot shows that it was a success!
My company page literally blew up and there was almost 400 comments on the live so you don't need to just do these from your personal profile. I will be holding more on my page and there a great way to get more follows there too.
Post Search
LinkedIn has created a new system of post searching to give a “wider breadth of content relevant to the query” while also showing results from members from a more diverse background. I don't have the feature yet myself. Apparently a new 'Discover' tab will appear on your mobile app home page navigation menu. Do you have the feature yet?
Pin Comments
An update is rolling out to allow you to pin a comment (from the 3 dots ellipsis menu as per the below screenshot). I've not got this option either so have a bit of FOMO. I think it's great if you're sharing the link to an event or website as otherwise it gets lost in translation.
Or likewise to pin a clever, funny, educational or informational comment like from Jeff Young you need to give him a follow as I love all his GIF comments!
Scheduling natively on LinkedIn
LinkedIn is rolling out the option to schedule one post natively on the platform (profile and page) versus using a third party scheduler. I can't wait to see how it impacts reach!
If you want to schedule more than one post, I currently use AgoraPulse when scheduling on my page and if you fancy checking it out you can get a month for free with this code .
Don't say I'm not good to you!
So that's it for this month. ?? Which feature do you have FOMO over?
I'm all about organic reach folks (it's still A-MAZ-ING on LinkedIn). I specialise in the free version of LinkedIn and touch on Premium. I won't ever go in-depth on Sales Navigator or paid ads in this newsletter as it's not my bag.
I would love to hear about your experience with new features / updates in the comments ??
?? Remember leaving a comment is like leaving a virtual business card - people get to see your headshot and headline so it's always a great way to get visibility. Win / win!?

2 年Thanks Jen, As always a great and interesting round-up - I never realised reading about LinkedIn features would be interesting! Couple of quick questions: - am I imagining it or did there used to be an option to "Share to a group"? I'm sure I used to use this quite often as sometimes a post seems particularly relevant to a certain group and the comments I would make might be different according to where I was sharing ?? -also the networking in lives opportunity looks good- is there a quick way to search for lives that might be interesting (aside from yours of course!)

2 年So many changes, so little time, right Jen Corcoran?!?! Thank you very much for the mention in the Newsletter! BTW, I don't think LinkedIn did that notification before so could that be ANOTHER change? Note: "Pin Comment" only works if you are the author of a post. I don't have it yet either! NAMASTE ?? ?? Jen, as usual, you did a great job informing us of all the updates. And saving us a ton of time trying to sift through them. Thank you! You rock!
