So. Much. Hate.

If I'm honest, LinkedIn ads might just be the spinach on the plate of online advertising – we know it's supposed to be good for us, but oh boy do the people I talk to love to push it to the side!

But here's the thing: most people are about as thrilled to click on a LinkedIn ad as they are to receive an 'exciting' tax notice.

Yet, therein lies the opportunity.

While everyone else is busy sighing at the thought of creating another ad campaign with potential lackluster results, you can leapfrog the complainers.

What I want you to get out of this is that with the right strategy, that much-maligned ad space becomes your secret weapon—your very own digital jetpack.

So, while everyone else is busy groaning, we're over here crafting our next winning campaign (even if you are a beginner); after all, it's not about the likes or follows, it's about connecting, engaging, and converting with finesse.

Well, finesse is nice and all...perhaps a bit of savior faire (thank you Mme Spear for teaching me French)...but it's profit I care about. And you should too.

"Can you give me some advice on LinkedIn ads?"

You bet I can.

I've run over a million (with an m in case you didn't see the m, lol) bucks in LinkedIn ads for my clients and there are four essential pieces of advice that I'd like to share with you if you are just starting out.

Or even if you've been running LinkedIn ads for your business for a while.

So, if you are ready to unlock the untapped potential of LinkedIn ads, let's go.

In the dynamic arena of digital marketing, LinkedIn stands out as the go-to place for marketing businesses of all kinds.

But, be carefully; these are not just any ads—they can be wildly expensive when compared to other platforms.

Left unchecked and you can see your "cost for 1000 views" skyrocket to wallet-thinning heights.

And LinkedIn knows it.

And guess what? They aren't changing any time soon.

So buckle up buttercup and understand that if your target market is on LinkedIn, you are going to pay a premium to get in front of them.

That, my friends, is the "real reality" (stole that line from one of my teachers).

So, Today is the Day We Talk About LinkedIn Ads

Today is the day. The day you turn the tables and make LinkedIn ads sing your brand's anthem to the high heavens of professional networking.

You're not just any marketer or business owner. You are a visionary, embarking on a quest for glory with a tool that many have tried—but few have truly mastered.

Let's face it: LinkedIn ads can feel like a "frenemy" (that's a person who is or seems to be a friend but who is also in some ways an enemy).

They (the LinkedIn Ads) are notorious for their premium costs and their mercurial nature.

However, they also harbor the extraordinary power to catapult your brand into the limelight—if you're armed with the right strategy.

Here's the inconvenient truth: LinkedIn ads are fertile soil for those ready to plant seeds of dollars and patience, nurture them with a first principles and data, and harvest profitably from a cultivated ad campaign.

And I am here to get you started and guide you through it, step by return-on-investment step.

TIP: Embrace the Power of Patience and Testing

I'm going to start with the tip you don't want, at first.

But I promise you, testing will become your silver bullet if you keep at it.

Understand that this is the genesis of your ad mastery: a beautiful alliance of patience and testing.

Before you charge forward, remember, each dollar spent today is an investment in the future collection of knowledge—the kind of knowledge that arms you with the power to target with precision, convert with confidence, and triumph with an predictable ROI.

TIP: The Art of Patient Testing

Your mission: realize that your ads are not just ads. They are your face to the unknown world. Let them roam across the LinkedIn landscape, gathering intel and forging connections.

The key? Test different audience segments to identify who resonates most with your messaging.

This isn't just a game of hit-and-miss; it's strategic experimentation, underpinned by a robust appetite for learning and adapting.

Some will win.

Many will lose.

It's the winners you seek.

TIP: Test. Adapt. Overcome.

Craft variations of your ads. Adjust copy, tweak designs, alter the imagery—and watch rigorously which version sparks engagement and ignites action.

With every iteration, you're one step closer to a campaign that doesn't just target audiences, but bewitches them.

TIP: Know Your Numbers Inside Out

As a savvy business architect, your calculations are the scaffolding of your ad strategy.

Knowledge is not just power; it's profit. Moolah.

You must grip the financial reins tightly: know the lifeblood—the lifetime value of a customer (if we speak, you'll hear me refer to this as LTV), the pulse—the profit margin, and the lifeline—the sustainable ad spend.

We must work tirelessly to steer clear of the gap where ad spend outweighs returns.

Instead, conquer the empire where each dollar invested multiplies in your bank account.

TIP: A Matrix of Metrics

If you are going to make things happen with LinkedIn Ads, you've got to understand how to measure thing.

To soar on the wings of LinkedIn success, anchor yourself in the bedrock of analytics.

Understand that even if the first month is about gathering insights rather than immediate sales, the gears of your marketing machine must eventually interlock into a profitable rhythm.

Now, I'm a lover of all things analytics, thanks for the super heroic maven of mathematics, Dennis Luciano.

TIP: Balance the Equation of Investment and Gain

For triumphant campaigns that echo in halls of marketing fame, your costs must be dwarfed by your victories—a positive ROI isn't just desirable; it's the only outcome to accept. Seriously.

Mindset is Everything

Forge your armor in the fires of a strategic mindset. In the infancy of your ad journey, seek insight as fervently as sales. Let the data flow like a river of gold, guiding your path forward. Do not stumble in the face of early adversity; rise above it, resilient and relentless, focused on the grand scheme.

The Vanguard Mindset

Think long-term. Position yourself at the helm, eyes trained on the horizon, where initial tactical losses divulge strategic wins. Anticipate. Strategize. Strike when the data aligns.

Act on the Intelligence You Gather

Here's your success step, your turning point: Action.

The battlefield is scattered with data—each piece a weapon, fine-tuned to carve your success story.

Mold your strategies; sharpen your ad targeting; hone your messages until they slice through noise and inertia with laser precision.

Stand in the Chamber of the Painted Table and confidently say, "Shall we begin?"

(?? Who in my connections can name THAT reference? ??)

The Alchemy of Analytics

Embrace your newfound intelligence. It's a metamorphosis—from raw data to golden strategy—that demands a keen eye, a steady hand, and unyielding resolve to refine and perfect.
