What to do with that pesky LinkedIn Newsletter.
Hello, it's your friend Bernie writing to you here.
I'm sure many of us ask this question every week.
I looked at all the LinkedIn newsletters I've subscribed to, and 90% are dead.
Part of it is keeping up the habit of writing, like making the actual words and then what to include.
I've been emailing nonstop every week for over fifteen years, for myself, for projects and work -
I recently started Bernie's Better Things, a daily, no-fluff, no-pitch newsletter to 'sharpen your coworking edge in 2 minutes a day.'
?? Sharpen your coworking edge in 2 minutes a day. Subscribe to Bernie's Better Things for a daily, no-fluff, no-pitch newsletter.
The one thing that connects everything in our universe is the Coworking Values Podcast.
It is where we spotlight projects, issues, and events in the coworking world.
It is not about real estate waking up or the market - follow this newsletter here by our mates Lucy McInally and Caleb Parker ??
Future updates will not always be as big as this one, but I wanted to set the scene, and it will get tighter and sharper over time.
There are many things in one place, and they are all part of the same family—they rarely get seen together in public!
What is the Coworking Values Podcast about?
It is over 150 episodes about the grittier things like:
Inclusion, diversity, equity, menopause, neurodiversity, young people, older adults, affordable workspace, creator economy, local coworking, refugee projects, 15-minute city, parenting, childcare, collaboration, openness, sustainability, workflow, project management, writing, economic inclusion, loneliness, The Belongfulness Project , accessibility, and community.
I'm sure there is some other stuff....
What have I missed?
Always in beta
Also, it is always in beta. It was already going in some form when Emily Breder and I started Ouishare Radio in 2014, just before Lisa Gansky 's Mesh Conference in San Francisco.
2018, we moved it out to be Coworking Values Podcast , and ?eljko Crnjakovi? (Jack) snapped the whole thing into shape and turned it pro.
Since then, Jose Antonio Morales , Tony Bacigalupo , and Emily Breder have become regular co-hosts on projects and topic tracks.
Building our podcast universe
We're working on our Coworking Values Podcast universe, and this newsletter includes all the bits we left out, links, and projects from guests we want to share and go further on.

Creator Write Club
We'll be at the Creator Write Club at Creative Works Space from 10 am - 12 pm.
Join Elena Giroli and me for coffee and writing.
In our experience, the magic happens when small groups of people meet informally to work together and discuss their work.
We've been meeting in London's indie coworking spaces since 2008.
Every week, creators, authors, freelancers, academics, YouTubers, comedians, parents, marketers, bloggers, developers, event managers, journalists, activists, musicians, poets, lawyers, sailors and other independent self-starters meet to support each other.
We welcome beginners and long-term pros - don't be shy!
You don't need to be a coworking space member to participate; we are all about connecting people.
Takeaways and Calls to Action
After Tuesday's Remixing Community For A Citizen Groove at Peckham Levels , we hope people will join in to take everything further; we're pointing people to projects that are already happening.
1. European Coworking Day 2024
One of the best ways to raise awareness of your coworking, neighbourhood, or flexible workspace in London is to hold an 'open doors' day.
In 2019, a group of us started?National UK Coworking Day , but COVID killed it, and we all moved on.?
But the collective effort of doing that day, connecting with other spaces and, most importantly, connecting with people in our local area was a good story to run with.?
Register your space now on European Coworking Day to get going.
Help for marketing your European Coworking Day event?
From the first week of May to the 22nd, we'll hold a weekly sprint coaching call to discuss marketing strategy and event communications for your coworking day event.
(Facilitated by Scrum Master Emily Breder and Bernie J Mitchell )
To RSVP for the sprint call, subscribe to the London Coworking Assembly?event list here .
For European Coworking Day, you can run a coffee morning or a rock concert.
The best thing to do is keep an event you already do on the 22nd and make it bigger!
For example, Creative Works E17 has the Creator Write Club running on May 22nd, which they could use as their European Coworking Day event.
2. Are you in the LinkedIn Coworking Group?
You can join here if you are not a member, and we'll let you in.
We've been in this group for years!
Last month, a group of us worldwide committed to going 'all in' and making this a healthy, active, and connected place for coworking conversations guided by coworking values.?
You can start by heading?to this?post by Laura in the LinkedIn group ; it's?about next Tuesday's event.
Here's a fun fact:?The?Coworking LinkedIn Group ?was started in 2007 by Chris , who invented the hashtag!
3. Cowork Plus
The new COWORK PLUS project brings active, existing conversations and projects together to help them connect and progress.
View Cowork Plus
We aim to change how we approach coworking spaces and community engagement in our rapidly evolving world. We will collaborate to make this project groundbreaking.
So far, we've co-created this event with?Laura, ?Stephen ?from?Face Work , Kofi Oppong of?Urban MBA and Jeannine van der Linden of the European Coworking Assembly .
The?Open Source Cowork Plus Framework Guide ?contains ideas and stories to ignite conversations before, during, and after this event.
Thank you for your time and attention
Have a remarkable day.
Be careful out there.?
It is a jungle.
