LINGUISTICS is the study of LANGUAGE. If you are creating the SCAFFOLDING for something you are about to build, and you are building something conceptual (idea, publication, software, database), you may need to start with the LANGUAGE or LINGUISTICS.

It is amazing how often we "disagree" because we interpret the same statements differently and our attempts to clarify increase our confusion.

LINGUISTICS today may include concepts that didn't exist when we first learned about LANGUAGE: LOL, IRL.
