Liner reliability continues to improve

The new report from Sea-Intelligence shows liner shipping schedule reliability improve for the 6th consecutive week. Globally 84% of vessels are now on time, a sharp 10 percentage point increase since December, and a performance only seen better in 2016.
However, the data also shows that for the vessels which are delayed, the magnitude of the delay is worse than at any other year at this point in the year. Compared to the performance in 2016, vessels which are delayed now arrive a full day later than what they did in 2016.
Hence, we are seeing a bifurcation in performance. On one hand more and more vessels arrive in a timely fashion. On the other hand, once delays occur, these are of an ever larger magnitude, and hence likely more disruptive to the supply chain.

5 年Very helpful that only 15pct of planned arrivals are not meeting the carriers commitments. This helps #SME #exporters and #importers maintain needed #cash-cycle. More #transparency is needed for #bettershipping

5 年I wonder if there are any applications of plugging in weather forecast into determining vessel arrival times and then subsequently becoming one of the factors in forming a product offering
