A LINE IN THE SAND
Today, I meet a man from the Black Partner Party. This man approached me at a busy mall within the city, for he shared that he was recently released after 47 years of incarceration. He also shared that he has no money, family, friends or the like, he requested for me to assist him, which I did.
As the man walked away the notion of this interaction hit me like a ton of bricks; that the man that stood before me was once labelled as a freedom fighter, only to be extradited from society, thrust within a hole, forgotten about, and released back into a society that has forgotten any semblance of him, his name, his sacrifice or what he has stood for. For I was humbled to know that one day all the sacrifices and/or ways of me will also be forgotten about in the land.
A pawn on a board is easily forgotten about once it is eliminated, as he has been. This interaction has taught the true me that seeking justice goes hand and hand with that infamous proverb, "that no good deed goes unpunished." For all the seekers of justice and truth that populate the land, here is my message, "be humbled, stay in awareness, be courageous, stay prayed up and always walk with the Lord.
