Lindy Li Is Spilling Tea

Lindy Li was a “bundler,” which is a fancy name for a finance person, for the Democratic party in 2024. She was apparently pretty good at it and raised a bunch of money — which, because of other post-mortems, we now know went to paying Beyonce and Oprah and spending $200,000 on a set for Kamala’s Call Her Daddy appearance. It all seems pretty misguided. If you look back at the Democrats since beating Trump during COVID, it seems like the consultant wing of the party lined their pockets on topics like inclusion, then lined their pockets again on propping up Biden, then lined their pockets again on the Kamala campaign even though most people internally thought they would be losing. It is a sad situation, honestly.

Lindy Li got so pissed by the last 90 days of the campaign and how the money was being spent that she basically did the ol’ Elon + Tulsi + RFK flip and became MAGA. Now she’s all over the media ecosystem spilling tea on how out of it Biden was and how Biden was really Obama’s third term, and who propped him up, and all the things we all assumed or knew or knew we assumed.

For example, here she is on Shawn Ryan — definitely a MAGA-y show — where she spills tea after tea as he just nods and says stuff like “Awful” and “Sickening.” This is a Trump voter fever dream:

This all seems pretty basic, and I think most people knew that the Biden family was clinging to power — which basically every politician and their family does, including Trump’s family after January 6, 2021. Chuck Grassley is basically 92 and still in the Senate from Iowa. Explain to me how that is the goal of Modernity. Shouldn’t that dude be in Italy by now? People don’t want their specific window of power and influence to close, and those who enter politics are probably the worst examples of that. I honestly think Thomas Jefferson intended for politicians to be people who had already run a successful blacksmithing shop and wanted to help out their community. Now it’s just a backwards way to get rich. That’s a broken system.

Still, it does bear bringing up that for Li to swing this far over to the right, something had to happen on the Kamala campaign where she either got dressed down, had a scandal, or someone shit in her Corn Flakes. Otherwise, she’d probably just go quietly into the post-Kamala haze and then take a job bundling for her 2026 Governor run. But she went scorched Earth, so something bigger is going on here. Or maybe it’s as simple as she saw a chance to brand herself as “The Kamala Tea-Spiller." Maybe the latter really is the answer.

In the clip above, though, and some associated clips, she brings up Anita Dunn. Dunn was a big Biden ally, married to Biden’s personal lawyer, and apparently (and I think this has been reported in other places), Dunn was the first person to tell Joe and Bill Biden, “Hey, maybe distance yourself from Hunter.” I don’t think she was saying, “Hey, stop loving your son.” I think she was saying that Hunter is catnip for MAGA guys, so distance yourself politically. It should have been easy, as Hunter lives in California, which is quite far from Washington, D.C.

The rumor is that Anita Dunn got pushed out of the Biden inner circle as a result of that advice, and Li here talks about this: on the same morning that Biden dropped out of the race, Li and Dunn were on a call about fundraising, and Dunn had no idea the candidate they were discussing was hours from dropping out. He had only told his family and two long-time aides (Mike Donlon, I believe, is one of them).

So maybe people like Li and Dunn felt embarrassed by how they went to the mat to get money for people like this, and they were still kept out of the loop. That could create the “scorched Earth” element. Or maybe it’s just fun to spill tea.

Apparently, a major Democratic donor who “created two-factor authentication” (???) called Li at 3:30am on the day she did this Shawn Ryan hit and said, “The Democratic party is in shambles.” I think we currently are seeing that.

But remember: in 1992, the party hadn’t been in power (Presidentially) for 12 years, and they got it back. So weird things can happen. Let’s see what the future holds.
