Linchpin - a perspective

Men & Women mostly carry dreams of being that superhero, some want to solve the world’s problems, most of us want our school friends to be in awe, our little township or community adore us and in rare extent saving this planet from those good aliens (little did we know that we have to save it from the social animals called humans).

Couple of books that I read recently have been influencing my thoughts, albeit in a tangential perspective from the scenery that I have in my mind from the streets of Chennai, some 40 odd years ago – a bullock cartwheel!

·?????? Being a Linchpin associate with a title – CEO or top-notch education or 20 years of work experience?

·?????? Becoming a linchpin is dependent on being a ‘Scientist’ or ‘Cult leader’?

Organisations success or longevity depends on the number of ‘linchpins’ which is obvious. But for us as an individual, to be that ever dependable and a go to person of choice (for there is simply no one indispensable) here are my thoughts:

1.????? Try not to associate your title with the responsibility. Your team, organization, clients, partners issues are your responsibility.

2.????? Never say ‘I am not experienced enough’, only thing if ever our education teaches us without telling us loud ‘ability to learn new stuff by ourselves with some guidance’, you will be amazed to find unlearning happens subconsciously.

3.????? Never say the task is too little for your position, only thing that dignifies us truly is we are there when someone is in need proactively and consistently.

4.????? We learnt ‘OR’ ‘XOR’ ‘NOR’ but to be a linchpin a favorable mindset in my view is ‘AND’. You are everything you were ‘AND’ a little more!

When you see a gap, let the involuntary muscles of kindness and generosity to stretch, flex and show its glorious might to ‘be the bearing’ for others. Not to push or lift or stall others in need but be the bearing to let them ‘move frictionlessly’.

Oh, by the way don’t forget, linchpins break due to wear and tear because they are doing the same thing for a long time in the same position’. Remember to keep evolving, who says “linchpin do not move “!

It’s an awesome feeling that people trust you with their burden, don’t associate it with your title, salary or even current competence. Plunge in, because you are being trusted as a superhero for you have the capability of being one.? #linchpin #indispensable #bearing? #ganbatte

Well said Sankar! In fact the true linchpins don’t need or want the title. Giving meant a lot than taking

You chose the perfect word "Plunge-In" rather than "Dive-In". Makes a lot of difference
