[Limbo to Range Career Log] This is it?

Job #8: Intramural Soccer Club Coordinator

What was my duty?

I was leading everything that involved with coordinating a club including mentoring first-time college players, budgeting, equipment management, finding other club teams around the network for a tournament, and more.

What did I learn?

My last week was pretty tough. I already knew I could not make living out of coaching/playing soccer, and I had this glimpse of hope that I could manage to do preschool teaching job (Job #9) on top of this one. And... it was just brutal to take on physical toll of stress from both positions. I realized I was no longer enjoying my soccer job, so I decided to quit - turning my passion into a career was not the best idea.

How I applied what I learned from this experience to my current/future roles?

Quality always beat quantity. If I recall, I was not the best soccer coach/club coordinator in the college nor the best preschool teacher in the school. All I could reflect at this point is that those two positions were great experiences. And it helped me to realize what I need to focus - in terms of professional career - is to focus on what I am good at, instead of just following what I like to do.
