Lima Beans

Lima Beans

I heard a good report yesterday. I talked with a pair of our leaders who shared with me an experience that they had earlier in the week with a few of our operational leaders regarding trying something new. Now for most people, trying something "new" is like the first time you ate a Lima bean or took a shot of apple cider vinegar. Just the thought makes you shudder. In this case, however, it went something like this: Hmmm, we don't do it that way, but I'm open to trying; if it doesn't work, we can just put our reverse gear in order and reset". Hearing that made my heart sing. I love when our team gets together and simply tries to do things differently, not because one shoved it down another's throat, but because they genuinely LISTEN to EACH OTHER and work together to find creative ways to solve a problem and grow. That's where the best that can be done comes from. Sure it's uncomfortable, and you will be forced to do things you may not fully buy into, but it's in that discomfort that growth happens. Just remember who your customer is, and serve that customer in a way that helps THEM win, not in a way that makes you comfortable.

The Bible talks about the renewing of your mind and not being transformed to the thinking of the world. Where is your mind stuck in complacency? Where is your thinking stuck in convention and not in conviction? Where are you struggling to find the best and stuck in what you think you know?

The "new" approach the team tried this week worked better than they expected and was an exciting win. That's not always going to be the case, but I'd rather see 1 out of 5 things work than going 0 for 0 because we refused to take a shot.

Transform your thinking.
