Liking it.

Liking it.

Hey saint, I have a question, said the disciple.

Saint said, “shoot”, without turning to the disciple, while they both walked the pathway around the shrine.

How do you work from shrine all the time? How do you feel after some time during the day while working? If I work from shrine, and attend the meetings back-to-back, I must take a break. I must go to the coffee shop and sit with my friends, have a coffee and chit chat before I get back to work. That is why I prefer to working from office and not shrine. You seem so cool about it.

You have the answer in the question itself, said the saint. You asked how I feel. And I don’t think too much about the feeling. When that feeling comes to my mind, if it is not a helping feeling, I thank the feeling and keep it aside. It keeps coming to my mind and I keep thanking it. After some time, I would be able to just smile at the feeling.

The second aspect about the situation is there is something that is not likeable to you about what you are doing that seeks you to take a break. And you also seem to be okay about taking a break. That doesn't seem to bother you.

If you don’t like to do something and you must do that task, the not liking part would pop up every now and then and it persists. When you like something, it doesn't occur to you at all. You live those moments, and you cherish those moments in your reflections. So, you may want to figure out something about the liking and feeling part. Do you want to thank it or fight it?

I will have to think, said the disciple.
