Like Saving Summer in a Jar
Like Saving Summer in a Jar by Amy Mathis (Book of the Day at OnlineBookClub.org on Dec. 21, 2018) is a memoir of the life of the author's father, James "Jimmy" Mathis. She was surprised to learn from friends and strangers how positively he had influenced other people's lives. This book captures his legacy based on his transformation from a boy living in difficulty, growing up highly educated in the field of science, succeeding in his career and most importantly in his private life as a father and husband. This is about a man from rural America who succeeded and then gave back to his community. He is also a stickler to traditional family values as the basis for his way of life and decisions. I'm glad to read reviewer stacy k's support of the book. She just recommends another round of editing. She writes: "Like Saving Summer in a Jar is an easy-to-read, heartwarming, and inspiring memoir." While the memoir is a serious look at James' values, it has also many touching and lighthearted moments of his life.
