Like a River
Good things take time… (a short story, 3 minute read)
2 years ago I met a guy named Jeremy Fisher at a bar in NYC while attending an event that was way too cool for me to be at. Jeremy was nice enough to talk to me, as I imagine I looked awkward and out of place. I asked him "what do you do?", to which he said... "I'm going to change the way people discover what’s happening in the world"
As I recall, and I'm paraphrasing, Jeremy said something like, news consumption is broken, it shouldn’t be the random article your crazy uncle shared on Facebook, it should be every perspective on every story, it shouldn't be these blocks of text and blue words, it should be pictures, sounds, videos, and it shouldn't be served up based on the one that's clicked on the most, it should be free-flowing and fluid, like a river.
That conversation stuck with me and I've watched Jeremy navigate building RIVER since that conversation, 2 years ago!
Today RIVER the app launches in the United States and while it's for sure a moment to celebrate it's just the beginning for Jeremy and the team. To say I'm pumped for Jeremy and the team is an understatement, I've been using the BETA product for over a year now and it is thee place I go to when I'm looking for the full story on news that is happening right this minute. I too believe the way we consume news everyday will need to fundamentally change, if you find yourself hooked to a single channel or consistently gravitating to one voice, RIVER can help you see multiple sides of the same story.
So here's my ask, for a friend... Download River and try it out!
It's important to me that I try to bring attention to the friends in my life who are working really hard to change the way the world works, the tools we have, and the experiences we share for the better.
Thanks for reading!
