Like Balut?

According to Merriam-Webster, taste means to become acquainted with by experience. The keyword is experience. Taste plays a vital role in the creative sphere, whether you're a graphic designer or a copywriter. Imagine writing a video script for a high-end fashion brand, but you are not a fashionable person. Worse, your taste in fashion is non-existent. And in fact, you hate expensive and branded apparel. How would you even begin to write a compelling story? My dad wasn't a fashionable person, but he believed he was. Let's just say he always missed the mark. Why? Because he never experienced fashion in the real sense of the word.

You can't make sushi by merely watching a Youtube video. You have to pick and buy the proper ingredients, learn how to cut the meat, and roll the rice. It will take several attempts before you can come up with decent sushi. The trick is to experience and appreciate the entire process before finally being able to make good sushi. Most importantly, you have to develop a fondness for it, like trying to eat balut.

It's possible to enjoy the unfamiliar only if you're open to it. Be willing to try new things, whether it's a genre of music or an exotic delicacy.

Understand the value of having an appreciation for different flavors and esthetics. Be open.

A word of advice. Avoid trusting your taste?exclusively?if you don't want to fall victim to your arrogance.
