Lightsabers, Droids, Memorabilia Act As Force Multipliers

If you’ve ever seen a video shot in my home office or read my posts from past years, you may already know that I’m a big fan of the Star Wars franchise. More than just great movies, from the debut of Episode IV in 1977 they have been, and continue to be, a cultural phenomenon. From the adults who were amazed by special effects like lightsabers in the original movie, to the kids captivated by speeder bikes on the forest planet Endor in 1984, to those folks’ kids and grandkids who love “Baby Yoda” in 2024, it seems everybody has a favorite scene and some favorite Star Wars memorabilia.

With Star Wars Day falling this Saturday, I thought it would be fun to commemorate the day by sharing some favorite toys and collectibles from the (sometimes quite large) collections of the BMC mainframe team.

Knowing that every Jedi needs a good lightsaber, last year VP of Software Consulting Kevin McGuinn (seen in the background) and BMC’s Value Systems Engineers presented me with one of my very own.

Jabba and Greedo are a bit out of place, but Solution Marketing Manager Matt DeLaere’s well-worn Ewok village is right at home in the woods.

The Force is strong in Senior Software Consultant Brian Westerholt! Among his sizable collection are these Funko Pop figures signed by Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand), Katie Sackhoff (Bo-Katan) and Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon).

Brian’s collection also pays tribute to The Mandalorian’s Grogu, aka “Baby Yoda.”
