Lights, Camera, Action! My Podcasting Experience

Lights, Camera, Action! My Podcasting Experience

Last month, I was on The Purpose-Led Leadership Podcast with Chris O’Connell??

When you receive an invite to be a guest on someone’s show, it’s a special moment.?

1,135 days since I started my coaching business, it feels good to have this kind of recognition.

Vindication for your ideas and messages. A platform to share new ideas.?

Often, people don’t want to talk about losing purpose. It’s a challenging read. But, I know these topics help you to come through challenges. It’s why I do it.?

In this week’s Newsletter, I’m going to share with you my podcasting experience along with insights from a great conversation.

The Purpose-Led Leadership Podcast

Chris’ story is incredible. He’s dealt with so much trauma in his life after being abandoned as a baby.?

He went on to become a millionaire before losing everything. His family and a £25m business.?

Chris has conquered so many of his demons over the years. Now, he’s a thought leader in mental well-being and high performance. Make sure to give him a follow HERE on Linkedin!

The Purpose-Led Leadership Podcast showcases some great guests. From experts on Linkedin and in business.?

This time, I was alongside Steve Ware , a Mindfulness Expert. Steve works with Executives to help them reduce stress so they can improve their performance and wellbeing.?

Steve and I got to know each other through LinkedIn in 2023. We ended up hosting several Linkedin Audio Events last year. Covering career burnout and how to handle stress.?

Steve’s always great to listen to. His wisdom on mind management is not to be missed.?

So, it was exciting to team up with Steve on Chris’ next episode.?

Down South

As part of my old job, I would travel to London to meet clients. I love returning to the big smoke. I spent 4 years of my 20s gaining experience in IT recruitment.?

I made my way down on the train from Manchester. And whilst I looked out of the window and sipped my coffee, I wondered what we’d be discussing.

London’s crazy. It’s busy, hectic and a bit dirty. It’s an unforgiving place.

So when I arrived at the recording studio in East London I felt at home in some ways. Excited to meet Steve and Chris for the first time. ?

The Conversation

I’ve appeared on podcasts before. And whilst each one has been different, I knew the brief. What I wasn’t expecting was multiple cameras and lights shining in my face. It was like being on TV!

The conversation began and we discussed my upbringing. I shared my opinion on men’s mental well-being and a few anecdotes from my coaching practice.

It felt good to talk about mental health issues. I speak to people every day who are being tested. Pushed by careers that are driving them to burnout and depression.?

I coach people who already have therapists. I coach people who are burned out. I even work with some people who’ve experienced depression.

But you don’t have to be a man to experience such problems. Although men do tend to keep their feelings locked up inside (a contributor to poor mental and emotional well-being).

If you didn’t know, the majority of my clients are women (just). So in a way, I’m not a men’s specialist coach. But, I do know the troubles they face.?

The conversation was great. We’ve had loads of feedback from it so far.

And if these kinds of discussions can help just one person to improve their life then we’ve done our job.?
