A candle lights the way
Burning brightly it's beautiful flame
Illuminating the darkness
For centuries in the same way
You can light candles as a mark of respect
For those you never want to forget
Some are lit for peace
Praying that wars and misery cease
Some are lit in celebration to light a wedding table decoration
To celebrate a birthday or to demonstrate affection
To offer a blessing or message to spirit
Or purely to calm and meditate
Others are sacred and have their own ritual
They are also used as a night-time vigil
Some are lit to purely light up the night
A guide to show the way
To avoid obstacles or dangers that may be there
Others for hope and for prayers
Some light the internal flame
Igniting their passion
Inspiring others again
Stepping closer to their dreams
United with the universal energy
Setting their intentions free
Letting them go - having faith that they grow
Being thankful for the opportunities and
synchronicities starting to appear
Practicing gratitude -knowing their dream is near
The candle a tribute to mark an occasion
A candle lit dinner to show appreciation
A significant feature still used today and long into the future they will continue to shine
