Lighten the f*** up

Lighten the f*** up

I’ve just returned from an annual skiing trip with a bunch of grown-ups, if you can call us that. Some of us have our own businesses, some work for others, but one thing we all have in common is the ability to let our hair down (unless you’re Neil), laugh at each other and ourselves and never take things too seriously.

And that’s exactly what we did. Dancing on tables at la folie douce, drinking copious amounts of rosé, laughing, skiing, falling over, and drinking more rosé.

One thing that occurred to me though on the flight back was not once did any of us talk about work, Brexit, politics or anything too serious for that matter, we were just there to enjoy ourselves and switch off. Our memories will all be about the laughter we had, the carnage we caused and the school boy humour that made us all giggle.

And that’s my point. When it comes creating memories, the best ones are those that provoke emotions, make people smile and enjoy the interaction they’ve had with you, hopefully all for the right reasons.

So why is it, when it comes to new business and marketing messages, they can be so dull and boring? Is it any wonder you can't get the cut through you want, creativity shouldn't be too limited, come on, we’re in the creative industry for heaven’s sake, so lighten the f*** up and have some fun with it.

With 25,000 agencies out there it's tough to be heard, you can't appeal to everyone, and you shouldn't. But make it fun and people will love you for who you are, only then will you have a fighting chance to stand out from the crowd and get them choosing your agency over the next one.

We know a lot about making people smile, so, come on try a different way out to connecting to your audience and getting new business and try This Wayout.
