The Light You Carry...and how to illuminate it

Recently, I watched the Netflix special featuring Michelle Obama and Oprah, centered around Michelle's 2022 book, "The Light We Carry." At the end of the hour Michelle said something like ‘We all carry a spark that needs to be protected. It’s a light we carry and to make the world a better place we should lead with our light.’ Her profound words left me inspired, and got me thinking about the creative visionaries I work with every day.?

Here’s a simple truth: We all carry a light that deserves to be illuminated.

If you're a leader or someone designing and curating experiences based on the essence you carry, communicating that light consistently can be exhausting and confusing. Why? Usually, it’s confusing or inconsistent because there is no framework to it. Hence…this three-part framework is designed for you (by me) using the best practices that have worked for other leaders. Because I like alliterations I broke it into 3 M’s…that you should help you remember to be clear about these 3.

In this episode on YouTube, I share one of these three-part frameworks that supports a solid brand strategy for any idea-based brand.?

You can check out the video here????????????.

And…for those of you who would instead read and skip the video, here is the breakdown ????????????.

1. Your Message: Your Big Idea

This is the cornerstone element in my option. What story do you want to tell, and what do you want to be known for? Your message is the cornerstone of your brand. Think about what you're willing to shout from the rooftops and how to resonate with your ideal audience. Remember, you're not for everyone, and that's okay. Strive for clarity over cleverness. A fantastic example of a clear message is Dale Carnegie's timeless book, "How to Win Friends and Influence People." Success takes time, and getting clear on your message is worth the investment.

2. Method: Your Unique Approach

Next in line, and equally important, is what is your unique recipe? In the business of building ideas, your method is the unique way you achieve results. It sets you apart, helps you stand out, and becomes your intellectual property. Keep it simple and make it understandable. Your method might incorporate aspects of other methods, but it's about your unique perspective. Just like there are only 12 notes in music, your method allows you to create your own tune in the world of business.

3. Model: Your Business Blueprint

Finally, consider your business model. This is how your operation creates, delivers, and captures value. Your model sets the stage for a memorable brand experience and ensures profitability. Remember, the right model for your business is the one that fits the current needs and aligns with your vision. Whether it's training, certification, coaching, or one-on-one work, design a model that serves your brand and customers seamlessly.

In conclusion, and keep it simple... by aligning your message, method, and model, you'll create a brand ready for growth and capable of delivering transformation. If you've found this helpful, feel free to forward this email to someone you know who might also get some ah-ha moments from it.?

Until next time, make it a great day!
