In Feb my entire team and I were supposed to fly over to Thailand for a company retreat and as sponsors of WordCamp Asia - a big global conference.
Months of planning a massive campaign and costs around it all went down the drain in a matter of a week, when it all got cancelled.
Then this mess hit the west and as a young startup (Celebrating 1 year in 6 weeks) with a product that is there to help people grow their business, we are not a bare-essential - We are a "Quality of life" type of solution.
Like many of you, we instantly went from Growth Mode to Survival Mode.
Coming up with ideas for the next steps that will take us through these times.
As long as we're staying true to our mission to "Fix communications for WordPress pros".
Since Jan joined the team we knew we will bring back the biggest online summit in the space and this seemed like the perfect time to do so - To support our users and the community through our existing skills, while helping *us* through this.
BUT after "touring the world" last year and speaking, sponsoring and attending multiple physical conferences, I wasn't satisfied with the current state of Online Conferences. While still super valuable from an education standpoint, these are all simply just "stacks of webinars".
Disregarding the networking, hangouts, friendship and relationship building that comes with attending these events.
As usual, where ever we look, we find communication breakdowns and fragmented flows, that we know how to fix and fits perfectly with our mission.
So we identified the opportunity and duty to act and took the trying times we're all in, locked up inside, as a challenge.
To create a TRUE online experience that will bring the different aspects we all love from physical events into the digital space.
I'm very proud and grateful to share with you what, we believe, is the future of online events.
