The Light at the end of the Tunnel for Travel and Tourism.

The Light at the end of the Tunnel for Travel and Tourism.

The recent Covid19 news is the travel industry’s first peek at the light at the end of the tunnel. It is not bright though, and no one is sure how far away it is. But it brings hope.

The light is flickering. While one cruise company announces that they will resume sailing in August, another announces their financial trouble. A similar situation exists with the airlines. While some resume service to specific destinations and sales increase, there is news of others filing for bankruptcy or completely going out of business. As it relates to health, there is news that the rates of death and infection are falling in most places, and the number of people recovering is on the rise. As a result, more businesses are reopening and people are cautiously going back to work. It is topsy-turvy, but there is light! And we can see it!

Here is what the travel and tourism community should do now that we have seen the light:

1.    Give thanks. Gratitude is very important right now as we have so much to be thankful for.

2.    Run towards the light. Reintroduce yourself, your business and your service, and ensure that you are fully reconnected with your clients.

3.    Prepare to burst into the light. Take stock of what you can do differently for your clients. Is there a fresh service you can provide, a new destination to introduce them to? What about your business? Are there new relationships you can forge and new partnerships you can build? Remember these are new times so get ready to look new and be new.

Greg what’s behind the light is my focus. We should not expect normal neither should we want normal. In fact we should now shape what beyond our light would be. As people we often sit and wait for the light to dim or shift for us to see the other side. But I am determined to shape beyond my light. Join me on this journey.
